Hey lovelies, I’m so happy that it is Autumn if I’m honest. I’m a sucker for colder and darker nights, its just the perfect whether to make a large hot drink and to snuggle up in bed and do very little except for watch Netflix or films. So I thought that I’d share with you some things that you need to watch.
American Horror Story 1984
The show is four episodes in this season, and it is amazing. This season follows a traditional slasher themed horror narrative at Camp Redwood with a serial killer on the loose. It is amazing, and something a little darker to watch as we get nearer to Halloween. I know that horror is not everyones cup of tea but for me my yearly dose of American Horror Story gets me through Autumn, I adore it.
Ready Or Not (2019)
When I watched Ready Or Not, I was not expecting anything magnificent. I had previously seen it advertised at Fright Fest and I’d seen some really awful comments about it, so when I sat down to watch it my expectations were so low. I really fell in love with it. The comedy element of this film makes it an actually gem.
The story line follows Grace who marries Daniel, after their wedding evening she is asked to play a game with the family, when she pulls a card it simply says “hide and seek”. After being told that the only way she can win the game is if she can stay hidden to morning, the film goes into 60 minutes of hide and seek with weapons and comedy horror. It is a must watch.
Slasher (2016)
“Sarah Bennett’s parents were murdered by a killer known as “The Executioner” 30 years ago. Now, she returns to the quiet community of Waterbury, where the killings occurred, to start over with her husband Dylan, but upon arriving they discover that things haven’t changed much. Sarah quickly finds herself at the center of a series of murders that revolve around the seven deadly sins, which appear to be the work of “The Executioner.” But the original killer who went by that name, Tom Winston, is in prison so it can’t be him”
I stumbled upon this series by accident a few weeks ago, another horror BUT it channeled all the AHS vibes with a Hannibal level or gore ( and I’d like to put if you are weak stomached do not watch this). I found myself unable to stop watching it as the episodes went on. I haven’t watch season two or three yet but I will be.
Orange Is The New Black
Honestly it’s a little bit heartbreaking to me writing that this show is now completely over, as the last series premiered on Netflix over the summer. It ties up the series perfectly for those who have watched it from the beginning and the last season, heavily follows immigrations laws and life after prison. It’s so eyeopening and its a perfect watch from season 1-7, I do warn that there is a lot of sex, drugs, violence for those that haven’t seen it.
Sweeney Todd (2007)
I have such a love for this film when its colder. I’m a massive fan of the musical film, I love the singing I think it really sets such a great atmosphere. The film is set in London back in the days and it’s rather dreary, that and Johnny Depp as the crazy barber is always great. He plays such a good part, that paired with Helena Bonham Carter’s part as Mrs.Lovett is just a match made in heaven!
Casper (1995)
Last but most certainly not least, Netflix added this gem over the summer and it’s just such a classic, you really can’t beat the originals. The film is such a heartwarming story about a little girl and her friendly ghost, and I just love the halloween autumn vibes it gives me every year.
I’d love to know your go to autumn watches, I personally love a horror film/show as you might be able to tell.
