AD | As spring approaches and the days get lighter and longer, you may be thinking about preparing your home ready for summer. So that you may enjoy the most of the sunlight around your work schedule when summer finally arises. There are various interior changes and maintenance you can do to get your home in tip top shape. Here’s 7 ways to prepare your home for summer.
Thoroughly Wash Your Windows: Inside And Out
Your windows go through so much in the winter, battling snow, rain and sleet. Take the time to check your windows inside and out for any damage from the winter. If any repairs are needed, get in touch with an expert so they don’t deteriorate and cost you a fortune. Wear your gloves, use window cleaning spray, and a cloth to clean the window. You’ll notice a difference in minutes, nothing is as
Consider Upgrading Your Glazing
Sliding doors are a great way to let in natural light into your home during the summer. It’s the perfect way to combine your indoor and outdoor spaces in a way that can be perfect for hosting parties, BBQ or any other social event. Kloeber have a variety of sliding doors which could be perfect for opening your space.
Sliding doors are a great option for both contemporary traditional homes. Not only are they great in the summer, but they are great insulators during the winter too. Kloeber’s bespoke sliding doors are a great option if you love a minimalist or chic look.
Sort Your Garden
If you’re looking forward to the summer months so that you can entertain guests, or have small parties in your garden. Then one of the first things you might do to get your home ready for summer is to sort your garden.
Have an old shed that is full of things you don’t need? Clean it up, recycle or get rid of the bits you don’t need and get it ready for summer. Ready to store your garden furniture or a cooler for beverages. Garden a mess? Start pulling up the weeds, planting new plants, cutting any shrubs or trees that might need trimming. Left unkept and with summer wind and rain can cause these to rub up against and seriously damage the roof or the side of your home.
Check For Pests
The hotter weather brings out insects, you’ll want to check that you don’t have an existing pest problem before the better weather arrives. If you have screen doors or screen windows, inspect that there are no holes or tears in the sealant. Overtime this could cause more issues than just bugs getting inside. Install a bug repellent device or spray the interior and exterior of your home with a bug repellent. In extreme cases you may need to call a pest control. If you struggle with pests why not check out https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/exterminator/arizona/ and see if they may be able to help you.
Get Painting
In the summer you might find yourself wanting to give your home a lick of paint. Painting the interior of you house can give a new life to a room that might be needing some TLC. It gives you the option to pick lighter colours that will improve your mood, or could simply just be a change of aesthetic.
It’s also the perfect time get to painting the exterior of your home. You could paint the exterior of your home or any garden furniture, or fences that might need it. Take the time to use a pressure washer to remove any dirt, stains, and mildew that paint can’t hide.
Flip Your Mattress
As the days become longer, it is also the perfect reminder for turning your mattress. You want to rotate and flip your mattress so that you sleep on different areas of the mattress. This evens out the pressure on the mattress, which leads to a longer lifespan for your mattress, which saves you money in the long run. Rotating and flipping your mattress will also make it feel more comfortable, because it ensures that there will be no dips in the places you sleep the most. Some mattresses are seasonal. You will be able to tell if you have a seasonal mattress by looking for the warm/ summer or cold/ winter text on the mattress label.
You may also want to use this time to swap out your duvet for a lighter one ready for the cooler months of the year.
Sort Your Cupboards
Whether it is food cupboards, cleaning cupboards, or simply cupboards you use for storage. Take the time to sort through them. During the winter months you can find yourself stockpiling items. Remove all items from the cupboard, and use a microfibre cloth and some cleaning spray to freshen up the cupboard itself. Make sure to get all the dust and any debris that might still be present.
Once you are finished with the cleaning, take the time to re-organise the items going back in the cupboard. If this is food items, arrange it in a way where you rotate the goods based on their perishable date. Anything that is out of date, dispose of. If there are any items you aren’t going to use consider donating them to your local food bank or charity that might be in need of these goods.

Oooh I’m lovin’ these tips! I’ve been meaning to clean the windows for a while, and now that the sun is out, it’s glaringly obvious that they need a good clean. Really need to do some gardening, too!
During this time of year I usually go through my whole wardrobe and switch it from a winter to a summer one, as well as putting some bags together of clothes to sell or give to charity.

I love these ideas and honestly I can’t wait for summer to get here! I’ll admit I can’t wait to give my windows a thorough wash. We have these pesky storm windows that gather moisture in the Winter months and it is so frustrating. One of my goals with my side hustle is to pay for new windows to be installed! Still, I do enjoy when the weather allows for me to open the windows and let the fresh air inside. Thanks for all of these awesome ideas!
