Hey lovelies, so last month I was lucky enough to be invited to the GM Events Fashion Show over in Milton Keynes. I had such an amazing night and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
Due to travelling I got to the event quite early with my best friend Yasmin, we waited in queue for a while but ended up being some of the first people into the venue. After walking up a small flight of stairs we were greeted by a massive table of canopies and champagne. It was a genuine heaven to walk into. Personally being a vegetarian these thing worry me, but they had cupcakes and some vegetarian options! So I started the night with champagne and cupcake. Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo of the reception, I had my coat etc with me and with champagne and a cupcake I just couldn’t multitask.
After the reception we went upstairs were some of the designers had tables showcasing some of the works they had available to purchase. I was genuinely in love with James Virgo. James is a designer who hand crafts bowties from bronze. They are very individual and James spent over twenty minutes telling my friend and I beautiful stories about each on and how personal they are to him. It melted my heart. I genuinely loved the steampunk esq one as it was just so individual. I’d never had a reason to wear it so it wasn’t for me to purchase but I hope it goes to a lovely home. I didn’t get much time to look at the other stalls but I did enjoy this jewellery as they were all beautiful statement pieces. This is also were we got a complimentary voucher to Krisp Clothing which was a very lovely gift!
Then it was time for the show to start, and I was blown away by this stunning venue. I really loved the ceiling piece it just added to the amazing atmosphere that this event had. Now, this is the only negative thing I have to say. When we went to sit down the rows of chairs were just too close together. I know this might be something really small to pick up on, but it made me feel super claustrophobic and being someone who is 5ft11 and all legs. My legs were so squished I ended up moving on the halfway break just to feel comfortable! But moving on, my friend Yasmin went and got us some drinks before the show started. There was some lovely singing by the host which I felt really brought the atmosphere to the show. She kept us so informed about every brand and I just loved her hosting.
Out of the 12 brands ( I believe there was 12 on the catwalk) My personal favourites were Krisp Clothing, Mawmaw and Gemma McErlane. Maw maw had the most beautiful designs inspired by African culture and I found there prints/pieces to be so fun and all the models looked absolutely stunning.I felt like the models were so well picked to, with such a large diversity, and such high spirits they really did bring that something extra to the show. They also performed a really fabulous dance number at the end of the show. Which wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea but it did really end the night amazingly.
GM Events have an Autumn show coming up soon and if you are in the area then the I urge you to buy a ticket. It was a perfect Friday evening and I can’t wait to go to the next event. There website can be found *here*. Thank you so much for inviting me.
