Apart from the exciting vacations, summer has a plethora of downsides that are directly related to your skin. The build-up of chemical deposits such as chlorine, plus the scorching sunshine and salty seawater, are all significant threats to glowing skin. If you have long-standing skin issues such as acne, consider seeking out professional acne treatment. Aside from this, since you don’t want summer to ruin your skin, here are five other ways to keep your skin glowing during the season.
1. Exfoliate Your Skin
Naturally, your body sheds its skin cells at a faster rate. If you don’t exfoliate (remove) the layer of shed skin cells, they will stick around on your skin and make it look dull and dehydrated. You can solve this problem by exfoliating your skin at least twice a week. You can try using skincare products that contain 10% gluconic acid. This will completely do away with the dead cells to reveal smooth, glowing skin. In addition to giving you radiance, exfoliation also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. These combine to make your skin look firm, young, and healthy.
2. Hydrate
During summer, your skin loses a lot of water to the atmosphere. One good way to replace the lost fluid is by making sure you stay hydrated. Dehydration will make your skin appear dry, scaly, and tight. If your skin becomes too dry, it’s less resilient, and wrinkles may start to look. The way forward is to drink about eight glasses of water every 24 hours. The organs in your body normally utilize water before your skin gets its share, and this amount is enough to reach the skin. Also, applying hyaluronic acid or a hydrating moisturizer directly on the skin will help keep it hydrated.
3. Take Cool Showers
How you take your showers can also influence your skin glow. Hot showers, in particular, are considered detrimental to skin glow because it strips your beautiful skin of rich natural oils. Losing these oils may leave you with an irritant, dry, and reddish skin. Instead of hot showers, go with cool showers and remember to apply your body lotion after each shower. Cool water, in this case, doesn’t mean very cold water. The rule of thumb is that if the water makes your skin appear red, it’s probably too hot.
4. Mind your diet
While you apply skin moisturizers, shun food, and drinks that cause dehydration. For example, you may want to lessen your consumption of alcohol and caffeine, which can cause your body to lose fluid. Also, try to stay away from extremely salty snacks, as they can disturb the balance of sodium and water in your body. Eat water-rich diets, including fruits and veggies, to have a great summer.
5. Use Sunscreens
Sun damage is a significant cause of premature aging, and in the USA, 50 million people seek skin cancer treatment every year. Sunscreen is a topical cream that contains organic compounds that reflect the sun’s ultraviolet radiation (UV rays). Since excessive amounts of UV radiation can give rise to wrinkles, sunburns, and skin cancer, you should invest in sunscreens to protect all exposed areas of your skin.
The truth is summer is a bittersweet season characterized by weather that can sometimes torture your skin. But, by following the tips discussed above, your skin will have a better chance at glowing.

Great tips! Hydration is serious business. I try to be wary of this in Florida. The heat can be unbearable.
