GUEST POST | Hey lovelies, today I have guest post by Kyra. It’s all about Bullet Journal Spreads you need every month! If you’re interested in bullet journalling then having a good bullet journal spread is a must.
Bullet journaling is an essential for me in terms of organisation and productivity. It also provides as a creative outlet when I’m designing each month’s spreads.
Some spreads are intended for fun purposes whereas as others are ones that you can include every month to maximise your organisation in life.
In this post, I’ll be sharing the bullet journal spreads you need in your bujo (short for bullet journal) every month.
What Is A Bullet Journal Spread?
A spread is another word for a page. So, a mood tracker is a spread in your bullet journal. Simply, it’s just a bullet journal slang word such as bujo is short for bullet journal.
When you become a part of the bullet journal community, you’ll pick up all this lingo fairly easily and quickly.
To become a part of the bullet journal community, create your bullet journal following either my “how to start a bullet journal” post or “how to start a digital bullet journal post”. Recently, I’ve been making my bullet journal digital and I’m loving how it’s turning out!
If you’re curious of the outcome of a digital planner, why not see how my DisneyWorld themed July bujo turned out!
Which Bullet Journal Spreads Do I Need Every Month?
Of course, the choice is yours and no theme is 100% essential for your bullet journal. The purpose of a bullet journal is having a planner customised to you. Here however, I’ll be sharing popular spreads that get reused by many over and over again!
Cover page
The cover page presents the start of the month and breaks up each months theme. I personally like to have a cover photo to introduce the theme and have a nice fresh start to the month.
Generally, this spread will have the name of the month and some doodles around it to show off your theme and the theme choices are endless!
You can go as creative or as minimalistic as you like!
Monthly Spread
This is a nice simple calendar layout so you can note down all important dates for the month on one page.
When in university, I like to mark down assignment due dates to keep me organised. A monthly spread is also good for jotting down anniversaries and birthdays.
On my monthly spread in my bullet journal, I like to include my month’s goals. This is because, when I’m flicking through my bullet journal, I always pass this page as it’s immediately after the cover page. Seeing my goals there, makes me more motivated to achieve them.
Habit Tracker
Have some habits that you want to stick to? This is the spread for you!
These habits can be so simple such as write a blog post or workout. Each time you do that habit, you make a mark on the corresponding day.
For example, take a look in my August bullet journal. I have the numbers 1-31 down the side of the page and my habits across the top. Every time I do the habit mentioned, I mark a dot beneath the habit and beside the correct day.
This makes it easy to see which habits I’m good at and which I need to work on. If you want to improve your life with some healthy/self care habits, this is the bullet journal spread you absolutely need!
Mood Tracker
This is a big one for mental health and can help you reflect on you emotions throughout not only the month, but the year.
I’ve always included the mood tracker as it’s the spread where you can get most creative. On Pinterest, you can get tons of inspiration. Some of the mood trackers are absolutely gorgeous! Most of my mood trackers are inspired by ones I’ve seen on Pinterest.
Brain Dump
Unless you’re a huge bullet journal fan, you probably won’t be familiar with this spread. It’s simply, one or two pages to write whatever you want.
As a blogger, you may write down blog post ideas and Instagram post ideas.
If you’re bored, you may choose to do some random doodles or practice some title ideas or calligraphy.
One very good use of a brain dump is testing your pens. There’s nothing worse than using one of your pens and the ink runs out before you’re done with it.
Recently, I’ve started a digital bullet journal so I don’t have to worry about my pens running out which is a relief!
Quotes Page
This is one I’ve been skipping lately but I’ve been missing it!
Having a page of inspirational quotes or just one quote for the month, really helped motivate me to complete my to-do list everyday.
When flipping through my bullet journal, I always passed this page and read through the quotes. You can make them inspiring, motivational, empowering- anything you like really.
It’s just a nice little reminder that everyday you’re getting closer to your goals and you’re on the right track!
And those are all the spreads you need every month, but the big question we’re going to end on is…
Why Start A Bullet Journal?
Bullet journaling allows you to customise your planner to your own taste and allows more flexibility than a regular planner.
You can add spreads and miss spreads based on what you want to track and keep on top of. Everything is optional!
As well as that, you can make them as creative or minimalistic as you like and you can change it up each month. You may have all the time in the world to create extravagant themes or you may only have time to add small flourishes.
The main purpose of a bullet journal is to maximise organisation and productivity. I always find that I get more work done when I use my bullet journal than when I don’t.
To make sure I always fill it in, I write a to-do list every day. This reminds me to open it and after I’ve written my to-do list, I’ll fill in all my trackers for the previous day. This definitely helps!
Do you have a bullet journal, and if so, what’s your favourite spread?

Great post from Kyra, I do love her Bullet journal posts.
It was one of the things I hoped to achieve over the summer but maybe next year! I love my bullet journal but I don’t give it enough time x

I love being organized and have recently bought an agenda to keep me organized and it has helped immensely. I do love the idea of a bullet journal though and may look into it! Thanks for the great post!

I keep reading about everyone’s bullet journals and wanting to set one up for myself… They look like so much fun while also adding a great organizational element to our lives. I’m going to have to pull the trigger sooner rather than later and start one for myself. When I do, I’ll refer back to this to make sure I include all the ‘must-have’ spreads!

Brain dumps are so necessary! I just loving having a page to just write anything without it having it really need and organized. I also really like doing my blog scheduling on there! It’s a great way to stay organized. Great post kayleigh xx

I love my bullet journal! I have a spread for planning my blog posts each month, and I sometimes also have a spread for TV/films that are being released that month, depending on how many I’m watching at the time. I also use my bujo to track my spending!
