Hey lovelies, today you were going to get my sponsored content pricing post, but I had so many requests for this in my twitter DMs and via email. I thought I’d post this today, and move my sponsored content to Tuesday. In July I set a goal to make an affiliate sale everyday. In June I’d been semi-consistently making sales, at-least 3 days out of the week. I wanted to push myself, get better at making sales. I wanted to work out how I got utilise my platforms to make an affiliate sale a day. The best part? I successfully managed it. So I’ll share all the relevant details. This post will include affiliate links, and links to my own product.
Why An Affiliate Sale A Day?
I’d like to think that I’m starting to master affiliate sales, it brings me a very steady income right now. I know that could fluctuate but making one sale everyday comfortably puts me on track to be able to afford living when I go freelance later in the month.
The idea of ‘consistently’ bringing in a passive income is incredible. I wanted to challenge and push myself. For the goal, I only included sales through my hosting affiliate code, Gumroad affiliate products and through my creative market affiliate link. I didn’t include my sales through Amazon affiliates or any other affiliate programs.
How Did I Achieve It?
If I’m honest the first 7 days of affiliate sales happened quite effortlessly, traffic from Pinterest really helped. I drive a-lot of my traffic to food or lifestyle posts but I make sure to pin at-least 2 affiliate marketing pins everyday. When marketing you need to remember that not all niches are created equal on Pinterest. Blogging posts don’t do well for a lot of people on Pinterest because it’s not a popular/trending topic. Finance on the other hand is.
Over 80% of my sales are driven directly from Pinterest/ readers on my blog. Although, Twitter is by far my largest platform and does bring me in sales, it doesn’t compare to the click through rate I have on my blog.
I’m not going to lie, day 25- 31 were the hardest. Maybe because I was so invested in keeping it up, that I overshared affiliate links, or because it’s pre-payday for some people in the UK? Those final days really were tough, and I can’t thank my twitter followers enough for pulling it out of the bag for me and sharing tweets, purchasing, commenting and helping me wherever they could.
Anyway now I’ll share some tips that worked for me, although I did publish A Beginner’s Guide To Affiliate Sales, if you’d like to support my blog and pick up a copy it is highly appreciated.
Quick Tips To Improve Your Sales
KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE – If you’re not making sales or regular sales, you probably haven’t got the right selling angle for your audience. I mention this every-time I write about affiliate sales but please learn about audience before you share popular affiliate links on your content/social media.
Invest in knowledge – I know not everyone believes in doing this, but investing in products that have the knowledge to help you does work. It saves you time and gives you the information you need to put to use. I’m not going to deny it there is some shite products out there, and yeah it can be off-putting. But, if you’re going to invest in just one money making guide, it needs to be this one. How To Make Your Blog A Money Making Machine (AF). It genuinely changed the game for me and will be going up in price soon.
If you affiliate through creators, keep up communication with them – It’s so important to do this. Keeping in contact with the girls I affiliate for, allowed me to have knowledge of any sales they were having, and when new products being released. The more information you have, the better you can share it/promote it. This worked incredibly well on the day of one of my friends product re-release where I helped her make a 10 sales in a day.
Timing is everything – Certain times of the day/ certain days are better for sales. For me it’s 8am on weekdays, or 1-5pm on Saturdays/Sunday if I promote on Twitter. My Pinterest traffic brings in sales almost daily between 1-5am. So, it’s easy to distinguish where the sales come from, and what platform.
Have multiple products/programs you affiliate for – I can’t stress this enough 1-2 is not enough to make constant affiliate sales. I affiliate for 7 creators, I then used my hosting link and my creative market link. That’s 9. Not all products sell the same. One of the guides I affiliate for I sold over 60 copies, where as with another I barely made 10 for the entire month.
Things I Learnt From Making An Affiliate Sale A Day
Email Marketing really matters – I’ve covered this on my blog and in my e-book but with the holiday season coming up, it’s important to use a mailing list for sales.
Pinterest Marketing– Pinterest is the best platform for directing sales to your products/affiliate links via your blog. I get 40K-60K pageviews from Pinterest monthly and it really does help when that traffic is directed to posts with affiliate links. There are a few rules on what you can and can’t share with regards to affiliate links on Pinterest and it’s worth learning them.
Your relationship with your audience matters – If you audience backs you, and supports you it’ll be easier to achieve. There are times where without the support of my followers I wouldn’t have been able to achieve it. My audience is the reason I’m able to go freelance this month, my readers honestly mean everything to me. Y’all are the best.
I hope these tips help people, I’m hoping to keep this streak up for this month as well if I can. I’ll try to continue to share content with you as I learn more, if you do want to learn more on affiliate sales. You can pick up my ebook, A Beginner’s Guide To Affiliate Sales.
