AD PR EVENT/ SAMPLES. Hey, lovelies, last month I was lucky enough to be invited along to a virtual event, Iām not going to lie Iām really not a camera person, or a social person. I was literally terrified to be on camera for 3 hours to a bunch of strangers. Fortunately the guys behind the Moonpig Virtual Event could not have been nicer, kinder or better company. I enjoyed the event a lot, and learnt so much about the brand. I learnt so much about the Moonpig Christmas Collection.
The event was split into 3 parts, an intro to Moonpig and an App Masterclass, a Flower Masterclass and then the Cocktail Masterclass. So I’ll be splitting my post up the same way. I was the worst blogger alive and didn’t take any photos prior to the event of samples but I took plenty of photos during the event.
Prior to the event I knew very little about Moonpig, except that they made customisable cards that you could buy for your friends/family for special events/celebrations.
The App Masterclass Taught Me So Much About A Moonpig Christmas
Jasper from Moonpig walked us through the app, the Christmas card collection and much more. He started by explaining that Moonpig have a range of 10,000 + cards that can be personalised for any occasion. At the time of the event Christmas designs were still actively being added. Jasper walked us through a really fab customisation feature where you can write a personalised note on paper, scan it on your phone via the Moonpig app and upload it into a card. You can get 20% off cards with the code APP20CA.
I personally loved this, as someone who lives far from home it’s a great way to keep that personal feel to a card I can send straight to someone’s door. The feature was really fun, but unfortunately it does not work Android phones right now, so me and my Google Pixel were unable to create one of these.
Although when it comes to customising cards, the app does have a lot of options, they have a recommended section which has a suggested messages for a ton of different occasions if you can’t pick one yourself.
We were kindly given some account credit to order cards, I ordered a few after the event. These are the designs that I went for, I didn’t customise anything because I will be writing them by hand, and I also wanted to have time to think of what message I’d put. I did order before lockdown 2.0 or I would have customised them and had them sent directly to the the recipent.
The app is actually really fun and handy to use, you can send products to multiple addresses in one order. I really recommend it for your Christmas/ Celebration cards.
The Flower Arranging Master Class
Roxanne from Moonpig then walked us through a flower arranging masterclass. This was really fun, really messy and I made my first ever flower arrangement. If I’m honest I thought I would really dislike this section of the event, but Roxanne walked us through it really well and gave us plenty of time to do bits.
The only thing I found slightly frustrating about this is, is this particular set of flowers isn’t currently available to buy so I can’t tell you exactly what was in it as I did not take note of this at the time.
The Moonpig flowers are incredible quality, I normally order them for my Nan throughout the year. This particular set lasted just under 2 weeks after arranged, and they arrived two days before the event which I think is incredible.
After the follow arranging was my favourite part of the event by far, the cocktail masterclass!
The Cocktail Masterclass
Now if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’d know I was a bartender for 4 years, and a bar manager for 2 so basically I love making cocktails. Moonpig sent the most gorgeous cocktail making set, utensils, a shaker, and glasses for the three cocktails that we made.
Conor from Mix & Twist held the cocktail masterclass and he was genuinely such a good sport, and so funny. It really made the night to have such a fun bartender to guide us through the cocktails.
We made three within the hour, and I got very drunk very quickly so I didn’t manage to successfully make the final cocktail because I dropped the shaker in the glass mid-pouring and spent the time trying to drink the left over espresso martini out of the shaker.
First up we made a vodka garden which had the following ingredients:
45ml Belvedere Vodka
25ml lime juice
25ml sugar syrup
6-8 mint leaves
25ml elderflower soda
1inch Cucumber slice
This was genuinely one of my favourite cocktails of the night, think mojito but with vodka and elderflower. It was so lovely and the method was so easy to follow. You add the cucumber to the glass, muddle it, add the fresh lime juice and sugar syrup, pour in the elderflower, add your mint leaves and then stir together and you are done! This is one I’ve made a home multiple times since and it still tastes just as good.
Next up was the Kiwi Collins which has the following ingredients:
45ml Belvedere Vodka
half peeled kiwi
25ml lemon juice
25ml sugar syrup
Soda top
Personally I loved the taste of this one, kiwi is such a good idea for a cocktail but unfortunately I really couldn’t drink more than one of these at any given time as they’re just too sweet for me. They’re made really easily, you half and peel your kiwi and muddle it, add in your lemon juice and sugar syrup and add in your soda on top! Give it a mix and it’s ready to go.
At this point I was a little tiddly, so when it came to making the last cocktail I really did make a mess of it. Lastly we made the,Gingerbread Espresso Martini which had the following ingredients:
45ml Belvedere Vodka
15ml Gingerbread syrup
60ml Espresso
Which is really simple, you pour your vodka, gingerbread syrup and fresh coffee straight into the shaker and fill completely with ice, and then shake for a good 1 minute, the better the shake the more froth you’ll have on your martini.
Unfortunately I was very drunk at this point and so when I went to take the lid of the shaker, I dropped it into the glass and ended up wearing the martini, so unfortunately I don’t have a photo of this one, but was I did manage to salvage was delicious. A fab spin on the classic espresso martini.
I genuinely really enjoyed this event, it’s my first virtual event of the year and I just really found it so fun. I learnt so much more about Moonpig and I can’t wait to get Christmas cards for all my family that have that personal touch.
I will be using them for sending gifts, making cards and sending flowers. Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever used Moonpig before or heard of their services.

Those cocktails sound amazing! I am not sure which one I need to try first if I am honest, maybe I shouldn’t be thinking about cocktails at 8.11 on a monday morning but something has to get me through right??
Moonpig events sound like a lot of fun. I love buying cards from them. I think I might have to get my partners from there this year. The black with white writing in your picture above is perfect!

What a fab event! I love making cocktails as well so I bet that was so much fun to get involved in. The new handwritten message feature is something that I love the sound of. I’m a fan of Moonpig cards but its always annoyed me how you can’t hand write messages – so glad they’ve added that in! X

This sounds like such a fun event – I think I would be very nervous too as I’m not keen on being on camera, but I’m glad you enjoyed it! Your cocktail making experience made me giggle, I think I would have made a similar mess of the last one if I had already had two! I never knew Moonpig did so many different things including cocktails and flowers xx

I saw sooo much about this event and a blogger I work with attended. she made me feel so jealous about the cocktails – what a fun idea for an event, especially considering that we can’t get out and about. I think that brands will do more and more of these in the future, I’ve got two lined up for next week!
