AD | Over fears of infection, primary caregivers are feeling reluctant to continue looking after their elderly, dementia suffering parents. Reason being many primary carers are sons or daughters and they are still required to go into their place of work, where they will be mixing with people from other households. This has led to an acute demand to fill their caregiving roles, either temporarily or permanently. For many, placing loved ones into care homes brings its own concerns of higher infection rates, lesser chance of dedicated one-to-one care and leaving them somewhere they are not familiar with. This is where we at Country Cousins are determined to help you. We offer standard, advanced and night time live-in care for all of your needs.
What is live-in care?
The live-in care sector has always held a vital role in the daily life of many people, providing them with social interactions and care which they may not be able to otherwise access. It means those who need specialist care can receive it in an environment they feel safe and comfortable in. Live-in care greatly reduces the COVID-19 transmission rates as our caregivers live at the client’s home with them, essentially forming their own safety bubble. Should the carer need to leave the client’s house to, for example, walk a pet or collect shopping, they will avoid all contact with other people where possible and wear a mask. Upon returning to the client’s home, the carer will thoroughly wash and sanitise their hands.
Safety of Country Cousins Live-In Care
As worries of transmission rates from external sources increase, the live-in care sector has become an increasingly popular choice for many. Country Cousins’ live-in care infection rates stand amongst the best in the industry, with a client’s chance of catching COVID-19 standing at just 0.1% – as visualised through our simple infographic. Compare this to the care home infection rate of 11%, live-in care is highlighted as the safest care option for the elderly. Whilst care homes are no doubt taking every precaution possible to protect both their staff and the elderly, care homes are riskier than live-in care. In a care home, there are numerous people in one building and the care home workers are not live-in, so they do go home to their families at the end of their shift.
Country Cousins’ Caring Safely
Following government guidance, all Country Cousins carers are now being proactively invited to book their COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as possible.
At Country Cousins, the safety and health of your loved one is paramount. We promise to meet and exceed their specialist care needs, we will take extra precautionary measures with everything that we do, and we will continue to respect and uphold the wishes of both the client and their family. But most of all, we will endeavour to become the friendly, trusted face for your loved one during a time when you aren’t able to visit. Hopefully giving you peace of mind knowing that they are receiving the support they need, in the most secure way possible.

Really interesting piece. My nan is no longer with us but she had some live in care towards the end of her life. At the start of the pandemic, I remember thinking that at least she’d have a face to see everyday if she were alive through it!

This is such a great way to care for you loved ones! It can be challenging and risky at this time to have multiple people caring for one and this is a great solution to minimise the risk! Thanks for sharing x

This is a great option for those who are seeking opportunities to provide the care that their loved ones need while minimizing their risk in the current global pandemic. I know that it’s a fear that we faced when discussing the care of my grandmother, who recently moved into a retirement residence. Each time that the news announces that another retirement home has been hit, I’m quickly diving into the news for names to make sure that she’s still safe. Selecting an option like this would help to alleviate that fear.

This is such a sweet service! I’m so lucky that both my grandparents have moved in with either my dad or my Auntie’s and so are being looked after and kept company! But I could imagine this service would be perfect for those who can’t visit or look after their loved ones!

This is a great piece and definitely something to consider for those who can afford it. I don’t have any grandparents left unfortunately but my granddad – who died in 19 – would never have wanted a live in carer, sadly!
