AD| When looking for something to do in or near Hertfordshire, you’re pretty much spoilt for choice. The landscape ranges from charming villages to beautiful countryside, with plenty of places to eat and shop. Even if you have children, there are lots of family friendly attractions, including zoos, museums, parks and historical buildings. In fact, here are five ideas for things to do in Hertfordshire.
1) Visit a Stately Home
Knebworth House and Hatfield House are two fantastic options if you’d like to visit a stately home in Hertfordshire. Both host fantastic events throughout the year including Christmas markets, outdoor cinema experiences and summer concerts. If that’s not really your thing, you can visit one of these stately homes just for a tour of the beautiful building and gardens.
2) Indulge in Delicious Food and Drink
Who doesn’t love the tasty little finger sandwiches at afternoon tea or a fancy date night? The Grove offers a fantastic dining experience if you’re looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion or you could try We R Cakes Vintage Tea Room just outside Stevenage if you’re looking for something more casual.
3) Watch a Show at the Theatre
If you’d like to catch a show but would prefer not to head into London, there are several theatres dotted around Hertfordshire that you could visit instead. This would be a great option to entertain the children or just do something a little different with your partner or the girls.
4) Have a Massage
In need of some relaxation? Hanbury Manor in Ware and Sopwell House in St Albans are two options if you’re looking for the spa experience, both offering swimming pools and restorative treatments like facials, massages or nail services.
5) Spend the Day at the Zoo or Farm
Paradise Wildlife Park in Broxbourne is a fantastic option if you’re after some family-friendly fun. In addition to the big cats and other animals, there’s also a dinosaur trail, adventure golf and a splash park, so the kids will have the time of their lives. If you really want to make the experience extra memorable, you could book to have one of the zookeepers give you a more in-depth tour.
