AD | Now that we’ve officially hit summer, you might be thinking about having some friends round for a bbq or a party. Summer really is the best time to get your friends and family together. During late 2020 I bought my first home and this summer will be the first time that I will be having any guests in my home. I’ll be throwing a big summer painting party. It made me think of some thrifty ideas to create my own summer part decorations. In today’s post I’ll be sharing 3 Ways To Make Your Own Summer Party Decorations.
Creating your own summer party decorations will make sure you’re ready for every occasion this summer from a last-minute picnic or birthday, 4th of July party, a euros celebration party and more!
1) Find Ideas On Pinterest
When it comes to making decorations you might be really stumped. It can be really hard to create a fun and trendy DIY if you have no idea how to.
Cultivate Pinterest for ideas. DIY is one of the biggest niches on Pinterest, there are hundreds of ideas for all sorts of party planning. Some of my favourite DIY are balloon arches, hanging garlands, and themed party ideas (plates, glasses, picnic baskets etc.) Many craft bloggers and Youtubers use Pinterest to share their creations on the platform so there is so many options.
2) Pick Up Relevant Supplies
When it comes to creating the perfect summer party decorations, you’re going to want to have the relevant supplies. If you’re incorporating text in your decorations you may want to use a summer fonts website to make sure that you have perfect fonts at your finger tips. If you’ve not heard of font bundles before they offer exclusive deals on the highest quality premium and free fonts from independent designers.
You might find that if you are hand making your decorations you need to take a trip to hobby craft or need to order craft supplies from your local art store. Especially in the current covid-19 situation it is important to support your local stores when buying crafting supplies.
If you don’t want to purchase anything new to create a beautiful decoration, consider thrifting supplies, using facebook marketplace or swapping supplies with friends!
3) Pick a Party Theme
With the sun out, there’s nothing better than being outdoors especially with your close friends and family members. Before you get deep in to what decorations you’d like to make, it might be time to think of a party theme. Here are some themes you might like:
- Ice cream parties
- Pool party
- BBQ party
- Flamingo themed party
- Garden parties
- Beach party
- A camping-themed party
- 4th July party
- Luau party
- Picnic party
Ideas for Decorations
Now here’s the best part of the post, here are some ideas you need to think about when you put together your parties. I’ve tried to make sure these ideas are inclusive for almost every theme. Ideas to consider:
- Fill a Wall up With Balloons
- Fold up Paper to Create a Fruit-Inspired Banner
- Use a Template to Create a Feature Wall
- Shape Balloons Into an Arch
- Make Your Own Streamers
- Experiment With Paper Chains for a Backdrop
- Craft Flowers That Can Be Reused
- Create an Insta-Worthy Wall
- Ice Cream Garland
- Disco Ball Piñata
- Papercut Honeycomb Lanterns
- Sequin Letter Garland

It’s the last summer we’ll have in the house we’re in now, before we relocate so would love to create some amazing family memories in our home before we go. These are such good party ideas. I’ll definitely keep these in mind. We just need a bit of sun now!
