AD | Hey lovelies, if you didn’t know I moved into a brand new flat this week. It’s a big change for me from my 4 bedroom house, but since my landlords were selling up I had to move. I’ve been thinking about what parts of the house to start renovating first and for me it’s the kitchen. For me the kitchen is the heart of the house. I adore cooking and growing up in my family home we always had open kitchens where we would spend time together as family, so for me it’s just such an important space. So I thought I’d share with you all the important parts of my dream kitchen.
It Has To Be Open Plan
My dream Kitchen has to be open plan, I want it to be an airy and light room. Growing up my family members always had open plan kitchens, and at university all my student houses didn’t. It made me really miss them, and to me the house lost the sense of homeliness because of it. Stereotypically dinner was the only time we ever spent together because of all working full time jobs when I lived at home. So I really associate the two.
Storage Space
When it comes to a kitchen, storage is everything. I love having good quality cookware and tableware and having somewhere to store it is a necessity. I’m a big fan of really nifty storage, I always love the look of big wall cupboards with a ton of draws and compartments.
I love the idea of having a wine draw, or three or those fancy American draws that are fridges or freezers. Why not check out Glotech Kitchens.
Sliding Doors
I’ve always grown up with kitchens that are backed into conservatories or have sliding glass doors directly into the garden. Open plan kitchens with glass doors look so airy and gorgeous. I’ll personally be using TuffX Glass, and exploring uses for toughened glass in the kitchen as they have kitted out some incredible places such as The Shard. Quality means so much to me when renovating or improving my interiors. If I was going to invest into some sliding doors, toughened glass would be an absolute must.
An Island
I’m obsessed with the idea of a kitchen island. I love the idea of being able to sit in the middle of my kitchen in the morning and just enjoy a cup of coffee. I think they bring a great amount of elegance and it’s the one thing I want the most in my dream kitchen.
Also, I think I’ve also romanticised the idea of one from seeing them so often on American tv shows, and in interior magazines. Imagine making cocktails on your island for you and your friends? Incredible.
A Large Fridge
When it comes to a dream kitchen, it’s got to have BIG fridge. Entertaining and eating are big parts of my life and when I own a home I’ll want dinner parties, and I’ll cook any chance I get.
I also love the idea of having a fridge that is packed with all sorts of weird and wonderful treats, a large compartment for wines and chilled drinks. Having storage space for fruits, vegetables and everything else. After sharing a fridge between 4 of us my in student homes I feel like I’d be a kid in a candy shop with all the free space.
A Barista Coffee Machine
Y’all might be thinking, Kayleigh why are you telling us about the coffee machine? Honestly I could not survive without a barista coffee machine at home, I drink coffee all the time. I know that they’re an investment, but I’d like to think about how much money I would save.
I’d love to know what your dream kitchen looks like, tell me what your favourite kitchen feature is in the comments!

Often I find myself imagining my dream kitchen haha. I love all-white kitchens that are open with a big island in the middle. A walk-in pantry also makes my heart flutter!

Honestly whenever I think about moving and getting my own place, the first thing I think about is the kitchen. It’s *very* important for me. So I completely agree with most of what you said – it has to be airy, fresh, a place to be comfortable in. Aaaaaaand I definitely need a barista coffee machine as well!
Really enjoyed this post x

I’m obsessed with a kitchen Island too! I never knew why as we didn’t have one at home but it must be from tv and movies. Your dream kitchen sounds fabulous!

I love to imagine what I’d do with my kitchen if I could re-design or build from scratch. I completely agree about loads of glass and windows so it’s light and airy. Plus good ventilation for when you’re cooking particularly frying. Storage is a must so you can adequately have a place of everything so sides aren’t cluttered. I love the look of a clean and shiny kitchen!!!

This sounds so lovely, I especially adore glass sliding doors! They make a room so much more open and natural looking! Maybe if we split costs we can make this kitchen happen? Iām all in haha!

Our landlord is selling up too and at possibly the most stressful and challenging time of our lives, so it’s added a whole new layer of anxiety, but I like the idea of focusing on something good like finding a new place with a dream element to it. Your dream kitchen sounds so good!

That is a nice dream kitchen to have. I too want an open kitchen with plenty of windows and a skylight. It makes the kitchen feel more inviting with natural light.

Our kitchen is open plan and I absolutely love it. The one thing that would make it perfect would be to have sliding doors onto our garden – maybe one day, fingers crossed! Love your dream kitchen, Kayleigh š X

Islands are great when you need extra room. I definitely want to have one when I get my own place – I’m always eating in the kitchen so I would love to have a spot that I can sit at.
A dream kitchen is a large kitchen – I’d rather have every other room be tiny so I could have an incredible kitchen.
