Hey lovelies, so for those who don’t know I recently went back to uni and why I’m at uni I’ve decided to continue the same blogging schedule that I had over the summer. So I thought I’d share some of my tips with you!
1) Pre-plan your posts
This might sound like a basic, but at the begging of each month I write out a list of the day and dates of everything I’m going to post, this was I can see what post will be on what day. It also gives me an idea of how long I have to write/take photos/ clean the post up! It also means you can pre-plan your posts months ahead, for when uni work is larger or you’re near assessment times.
2) Schedule your tweets/ Instagram posts
Again, this might be a simple one but it keeps my engagement up when I don’t have time to post often on social medias or my blog. With uni I don’t have time to tweet as the day goes on so I really do schedule EVERYTHING. I find that scheduling is so quick and easy to do and it takes me less than 30 minutes to a weeks worths of posts. I personally use Hootsuite for twitter ( I know buffer is popular too) and I use unum for Instagram.
3) Use selected days/time for blogging
I’ve found that putting a time slot or day for blogging is the best thing to do. Whether you blog on Saturdays or blog half and hour/ an hour a night, knowing when you’ll be blogging really will help you organise and will stop you from spending too much/too little time on blogging. It is very easy to get distracted and spend every evening blogging when you have uni work!
4) Take photos in bulk
This will save you so much time! When you take your photos look at your plan and take photos for your upcoming posts, this gives you time to edit photos ( if you edit photos) and get them into your posts before they’re uploaded. It also means if you don’t get any you like/ they aren’t right for the posts you have time to take them again. This has literally saved my life in the past and I couldn’t recommend doing it more.
5) Be realistic
This is probably the part I find the hardest. On paper blogging four days a week doesn’t seem a lot, but it is and it took me a long time to realise in my first year of blogging that it wouldn’t be something I could do. The only reason I am able to do it now is because my content is scheduled almost two months in advance. There is no shame in blogging less or posting 2-3 times a week. Blogging is a hobby when at uni and it shouldn’t be more important than achieving grades or doing the work you need to.
These are my tips and I hope that you find them useful! I’ve been blogging whilst at uni for a year and I’ve found these really help.
