AD | When you are searching for something specific on Google, you are writing a sentence, word, or question, right? But are you aware that there search operators that you can use to filter out more relevant and specific results? These operators are called Google advanced search operators. With their help, Google searches will be customized with sets of special instructions.
Advanced search operators, on the other hand, will inform Google that you do not want to search the whole internet.
Nevertheless, there are different types of advanced search operators but the most popular ones are the following:
OR Search
With this operator, you will be able to search for several search terms and will broaden your query to return more results.
The OR operator is perfect to use when you are searching for details that can be found with several search terms like “computers” and laptop. Also, you can use it if you do not know the best word to find the information you are finding.
Exact Search
This is actually the most basic advanced search operator. For this, all you need to do is place a quotation mark around the term you are searching for. It will tell Google that you only get the exact results for the term that is inside the quote.
Site Search
The site Google search advanced operator will allow you to zero in on a certain domain or site. With this operator, you are also telling Google that you do not want to search the whole but a certain website instead.
Ecommerce entrepreneurship can greatly benefit from the “site” search operator since they will only see the websites of their competitors. Also, you can use it when looking for certain phrases and words on your website. As a matter of fact, it is useful if you are checking for duplicate content or products.
Related Search
As the name implies, this Google advanced search operator will allow you to look for sites that are the same as one another.
If you use the related search, then Google spits out results for websites that are in a similar range as the one you’ve singled out.
This operator, on the other hand, is ideal for scoping out competitions. All you need to do is plug in your website to related searches and Google will pull up other related websites automatically. This will allow you to do market research on the services and products they are offering along with their prices as well as other relevant information.
Filetype Search
If you are looking for a particular type like .ppt, .png, .gif, and .pdf, the best search operator that you can use is the filetype. Also, you can use it when looking for product pictures that you can use on your website. For instance, you can restrict the type to .jpeg to obtain fast and more accurate results, for example, laptops filetype:.jpg.
There you have it the Google advanced search operators that you can use. Which of these operators you’re planning to use? You can share it with us so that we can offer you additional tips on how you can get the most out of it.
