AD | Hey lovelies, If you’re undecided about whether or not you’re going to attend university then don’t worry, you have come to the right place. There are so many different pros and cons about furthering your education with a degree that it can be difficult to know whether or not it is the right decision for you. With so many alternative routes into work, this is a decision that needs to take a lot of time and consideration. To help you decide whether or not a university degree is the right choice for you, here are 9 of the best reasons to further your studies:
It Gives You A Chance To Further Your Education
One of the best reasons to go to university is that it gives you a chance to further your education. Whilst this may seem like an obvious point to make, people don’t often consider how valuable that can be when it comes to working in specific fields. Although school and college teach you a certain amount of skills, university takes it a step further by helping you specialise in a specific subject. Whilst this can be learnt through experience, further education is a great way to ensure you have the theory behind all of the practice. For a guide to the benefits of having a university degree, you can visit this site here.
It’s A Great Way To Move Out And Live On Your Own
If you don’t want to live at home but don’t have the money to move out as soon as you’ve finished college, university gives you a great chance to have the experience of living on your own. Although you will probably be living with other students or a number of years, you’ll still get that feeling of living away from home – something everyone should experience at a young age.
Although it may seem like a young age to move away from your parents, living alone in university accommodation allows you to quickly learn the life skills you need to be able to own your own home. Whether it’s cooking, cleaning or paying bills – the sooner you learn, the better!
You Have The Opportunity To Meet Lots Of New People
One of the best things about university is all of the incredible people you’re going to meet. If you choose not to go to university and you go straight into a job in your home town, the chances of meeting lots of new people are pretty slim. When you go to university, however, you have lots of different people from across the world being brought together into the same situation. With one common interest – moving away from home – you will find it much easier to make friends. Those that do go on to study a degree will often tell you that the friends you meet at university are the friends you keep for life.
You Can Learn Important Life Skills
Although you will learn important life skills by jumping straight into a career, university is also a great way to ensure you have some incredible skills behind you. Whether it’s learning how to live alone or learning how to meet important deadlines, you will learn just as much out of the classroom as you do in it. For a guide to the skills you learn during your three years at university, you can visit this site here.
There Are Still Opportunities To Work Alongside Your Studies
If you’re worried about whether or not you’re going to be able to make enough money to survive your studies, there are still plenty of opportunities to get a part-time job alongside your degree. Whether it means working in a bar to help pay your rent or getting a job in the university library, you don’t have to miss out on learning the life skills a part-time job can bring you. The most important thing to remember when it comes to getting a job alongside your degree, though, is that you need to prioritise your studies.
You Will Gain Valuable Employability Skills
As well as gaining valuable life skills, you will gain skills that will help when it comes to finding a graduate job. Although it may not seem as though you’re learning skills that will help you when it comes to the world of work, things like meeting deadlines, writing reports and delivering presentation are all things that you are going to come across when it comes to university.
There Will Be Lots Of Opportunities To Travel
Another one of the best things about university it that there are often lots of opportunities to travel. Whether it’s using your summers to travel as much as you possibly can, doing a student exchange or going on educational visits just like your sixth form trips, the travel opportunities are endless. If you want to ensure you take a degree that encourages travel, make sure you’re doing your research beforehand.
If Needed, There Are Flexible Study Options
For those that want to study a degree but are unsure whether or not they will fit into their existing schedule, there are lots of flexible study options that will cater to your needs. Whether you need to keep your jobs or you want to be able to look after your kids, you can be sure there will a study option for you.
You Can Work In House And Gain Valuable Work Experience
Depending on the type of course you do, you may find that you get the opportunity to work in house with a company. If that’s the case, you’ll be able to gain valuable work experience that will prove beneficial when it comes to applying for graduate jobs. If you want to take it a step further, a lot of degrees offer a year in placement which gives you the chance to spend a year getting some much-needed experience.

I couldn’t agree more with the points on this post! I went to uni 10 years ago and I grew so much, and matured into the person I am today. It was a time in life that I’ll look back on with happiness, and kind of wish that I could do it again (maybe not this year, for obvious reasons).
