Whether you are a college student trying to get the best possible grades, or whether you are someone who is taking a web course or reading through a particular book out of sheer interest, there’s likely always going to be a bit of internal resistance from time to time to the idea of actually sitting down and doing the work.Studying can be very rewarding – and it’s often essential. But that doesn’t mean that it’s always easy to find the motivation to sit down and get started. Here are just a few tips for getting down to studying.
Preemptively eliminate distractions
Avoiding study distraction can be an art in and of itself, as there are inevitably going to be a very large number of things that could potentially sidetrack you from your studying goals, and leave you wondering what happened to the last three hours when you finally catch yourself.
It’s a very good idea to pre-emptively eliminate distractions from your studying environment, whether that means installing a web blocker on your computer and configuring it to cut you off from the sites that you most tend to procrastinate with, or whether it means studying in a place where you are less likely to be distracted by friends or relatives who might want to make casual conversation.
The fewer potential distractions you have to deal with, the lower the odds that you will lose track or succumb to temptation.
Be well-rested and well-fed before you start
It’s always going to be harder to motivate yourself to get down to studying – never mind to actually pay attention to what you’re studying – if you are exhausted and ravenously hungry before you even get started. So, always try to make sure that you’re getting enough sleep each night – and especially before days when you plan to do a lot of studying.
And, keep yourself well-nourished so that you don’t have to be constantly distracted by your rumbling stomach when you’re trying to delve deeply into a particular topic. As a general rule, the more relaxed and comfortable you can be when you settle into your studying, the better able you will be to focus and to stick with it.
Schedule your studying in, and focus on one thing at a time
Sometimes, it can be hard to actually get down to studying because you simply never really manage to get around to figuring out when you should be studying, as opposed to dealing with any of the other chores and obligations you may have.In order to study in a meaningful way, it’s quite important to schedule studying in, in advance, and to focus on doing just one thing at a time when you actually do settle down to study.
Attempts at multitasking will make the whole endeavour fruitless – and anyway, there’s research showing that multitasking is unhealthy and ineffective in general.Ultimately, if you don’t deliberately make time in your day for your studying, it’s extremely unlikely that you will just “find time” by accident along the way.

I definitely agree with these tips too! It can be so hard to study when there are numerous distractions in the room around you, especially if you are hungry x
