AD Affiliate Links | You’ll often finding successful people talking about self confidence and how it changed their life. Yet, you rarely find people sitting down and talking about how they built their confidence or how to be more confident. In my adult years I’ve found that personally my confidence is based off my achievements. That my choices and accomplishments in the subjects or areas of life I’m passionate about build up my confidence.
Confidence and self esteem for most adults can feel like an ever-evolving journey. Self-confidence is defined as a feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities, and judgment. Having a healthy level of self-confidence can help you become successful in your personal and professional life. Self-confidence can be learned, practiced, and mastered, just like any other skill in life.
Get Things Done
If you’re like me and you feel like your confidence comes from your accomplishments. Then getting sh*t done is really going to help you. You’re going to want to start hitting smaller and bigger goals. This could look like setting daily, weekly and monthly goals, and striving to achieve them. If you accomplish the goals you set for every day, chances are you will begin meeting weekly and monthly goals.
Remember that progress is gradual, and you won’t see big changes over night. It’s easy to feel dis-engaged and inflated when you don’t see yourself achieving overnight but remember to keep going. Your daily progress will help so much in completing your long term goals. Set a goal for yourself, and go for it.
Track Your Progess
If you’re going to be following daily, weekly or monthly goals, you’re going to want to track your progress. Seeing visual results over a series of time will help you build or boost your confidence. The best way to know if you’re making progress is to monitor it.
You goal could be losing 10kgs of weight by implementing more physical activity into your routine, it might be working towards a promotion at work, getting into university or doing a postgraduate degree. It could be working hard on improving your finances and building and emergency fund. Keeping track of your progress could look like, tracking your weight loss monthly using a gym based app, it could look like applying to universities or colleges and tracking your progress to your interviews. If you’re working on your finances it could look like tracking your debt payoff, and tracking your saving for your emergency fund or any other important funds you might have.
You will build confidence as you see the progress you’re making. Just remember to keep at it and stay motivated the best you can. As you might know, human pheromones have the ability to relax the people talking to you, which will in turn increase your chances to date the man of your dreams. Consistent with this principle, wearing pheromone oil at work will also reduce the tension that some of your colleagues used to have towards you.
Exercise Regularly
There are so many physical benefits to exercising regularly. A 2016 study published in Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment found that regular physical activity improved participants’ body image. And when their body image improved, they felt more confident. You don’t need to exercise intensely everyday, the benefits of exercise have been said to come from simply breaking a sweat why you workout.
These benefits include:
- memory retention
- improves focus
- helps manage stress
- increases your endorphins
- can help prevent depression
Stop Comparing Yourself To others
Comparison is the thief of joy. This is something I personally used to struggle with a lot in my early teenage years. As an adult you might find yourself looking at your friends or work colleges and comparing you life to theirs. You might find yourself checking out their life on social media, and comparing your salary, lifestyle and current life position to theirs. Comparison can make you feel like you are inferior or superior to someone else, and neither are healthy outlooks, and can cripple your self confidence,
If you find yourself looking over your shoulder and getting envious. Take the time to sit down and write a gratitude list of all the thing you are grateful for in your life. Remind yourself of your own strengths and successes. Staring at someone else’s grass won’t make yours greener, you need to stop focusing on their grass and water and nourish your own grass.

Make Time For What Makes You Happy
When it comes to confidence, achieving and completing tasks is really going to help you. But, ultimately being your authentic self and doing what you love the most is going to help you too. If you love going out with friends and trying new restaurants – make the time for your friends, and make sure you have money in your budget for restaurants. If you love going hiking, and exercising, make sure you create time for it in your routine.
Life is too short to continue to do things 24/7 that you don’t love. You need to enrich your life with the activities that help you thrive. It will help you recharge, which is important for your physical and mental wellbeing.
